Project Linus

The Project Linus Ministry of Immaculate Conception Parish consists of a group of approximately twenty women who quilt, crochet, or knit blankets for infants and children in need. The blankets are all hand-made, and provide not only warmth, but also a real sense of security. Project Linus also contributes blankets to our Elizabeth Ministry, Celebration of Birth gift packs for women of our parish; the Pregnancy Aid Center; our annual Appalachian Missions trips; and Hospice. They also knit beautiful prayer shawls for the residents of local nursing homes. Their handiwork is not just practical, but also deeply spiritual. They weave together not just garments to warm the body, but creations that become an expression of their love -- and the loving care of the God that works through them.

  • The "Linus" Group meets every 1st Thursday of the month at the Nazareth House morning group and or evening group.
  • If you are interested in joining and sharing your talents or would like additional information, please contact Lynette Klar via the Parish Center at 908-725-1112.

All of our ministries, if undertaken to glorify God, are, in and of themselves, prayer.

Let us pray:

Loving God, we give you thanks for the gift of our hands. Give us the grace to see our hands as you see them, as instruments of grace and life. May the knitting of our hands be the knitting of your heart. Use our hands, oh God, to carry out your works of mercy and love. May the blankets and shawls that our hands create bring blessing to those they wrap in love and healing, to those upon whom they rest. Amen.

Volunteer Testimonials:

"Knitting, crocheting and sewing have been my passions from an early age.  To discover that the things I like to do the most can help someone else is such a joy." - Lynette Klar
