2012 Jazz Ensemble & "Big Band"

The Jazz Ensemble & Big Band are in full "Swing!"

With great music by Sinatra, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy, Earth Wind & Fire, Count Basie, Neil Diamond & much more, these Bands are sure to get you up on your feet!

The Music Department has two Jazz Bands that are available to all students. Auditions are typically held once marching band finishes.

 

The Immaculata Jazz Ensemble is a competitive group set up in traditional Jazz Band fashion:  5 Saxophones, 5 Trombones, 5 Trumpets, Bass, Guitar, Drum Set and Piano. Their repertoire ranges from composers from the big band era such as Count Basie and Duke Ellington as well as modern composers like Buddy Rich and Gordon Goodwin.

 

In addition to local Jazz competitions, the Jazz Ensemble performs at school concerts, various community service functions and summer music series in downtown Somerville, NJ.

 

Our 2nd group,The Immaculata "Big Band" performs at school concerts and functions as well as the summer music series in downtown Somerville, NJ.  The "Big Band" is beginner group for all music students to learn the style and repertoire of Jazz music. The "Big Band" accepts many traditional instruments such as clarinet, flute and even electric violin!
