BECOMING CATHOLIC: The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Do you feel that God is calling you to know him better, to grow in faith, to belong to a Catholic Christian faith community?
Immaculate Conception Parish offers you a path to full initiation into the Catholic faith!
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a plan for welcoming and forming adults and unbaptized older children in the way of Jesus as it is lived in the Catholic tradition. (It is a comprehensive process of formation in faith where you will be guided by and journey with members of our community of faith, immersing you in Catholic Tradition and the Word of God and mentoring you in Catholic ways of worship, prayer, and service to others.)
The heart of this process is God’s call to conversion of mind and heart – a call to know and trust in God as the source of all life and hope, a call to turn away from whatever is contrary to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
To learn more about the journey to becoming Catholic, we invite you to contact us. You can call the parish office at 908-725-1112 or contact the OCIA leader, Linda Wass, directly at [email protected]. Once we hear from you, Linda will make an appointment to meet with you to talk about your faith journey and desire for Catholic faith. It is a time to ask your questions freely and without any obligation to continue. This meeting is also a time for us to tell you in more detail about the OCIA faith journey to the sacraments of initiation – Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion -- so that you will know better if this path is right for you.
If you believe God might be calling you into a relationship with him, we welcome your inquiry and will be honored to walk with you as you seek to discern God’s will for your life.
