The Saint Zita Ministry reaches out to the elderly in our parish who are living alone and may need help with washing and changing sheets, towels and personal laundry. This gracious ministry would visit with you, take care of these chores, and assist in those tasks that perhaps are becoming more of a challenge to you.
If you would like assistance with these tasks, please reach out to our Saint Zita Ministry. You can reach us by contacting Anna Ferreira at [email protected].
If this Ministry speaks to your heart, you may be interested in becoming a member of the Saint Zita Ministry. Please reach out to Anna or Judy if you would like more information regarding involvement in this important ministry. We assure you that your commitment can be minimal and can fit into your busy schedule.
Saint Zita was born in Tuscany, Italy. At age 12 she was sent to work as a servant for a very rich family. She was abused and overworked from the very beginning. Her co-workers told the head of the household that Zita was giving food to the poor when she should be baking bread. Upon returning to the kitchen they found angels doing Zita's work. She is the patron saint of domestic workers. “Jesus said, ‘The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few. Therefore ask the Lord…to send forth laborers for His harvest.'” (Mt 9:37-38)
